Short, because it runs on your machine
CamScribe is software you install and run. There is no account with us and no server of ours involved in using it, so much of what a terms page usually covers does not apply. What does apply, because two of the three things we sell renew, is set out in full below.
Last updated 3 August 2026
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and Olib AI (www.olib.ai), the publisher of CamScribe. By installing or using CamScribe you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install it.
Where you obtained CamScribe through a distribution platform, that platform's own terms also apply to the transaction, and where they conflict with these terms for that transaction, the platform's terms govern it.
2. Your licence
CamScribe is distributed through the Mac App Store and is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard agreement Apple applies to applications sold through the App Store). We have not written a custom agreement to replace it. These terms sit alongside it and add what is specific to a recorder; where the two genuinely conflict on the licence itself, Apple's agreement governs.
Within that, Olib AI grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use CamScribe on Mac computers that you own or control, for as long as these terms are in effect. The software is licensed, not sold.
You may not:
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the application, except to the extent that law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- remove or alter any notice of authorship, copyright or licence contained in it;
- redistribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense or lend the application;
- use it to record any person, screen or communication that you do not have the right to record.
3. What it costs, and how a subscription renews
Recording, the entire editor, the prompter, retake, cards, stickers, captions, search and export are free and unlimited. There is no trial period and no time limit, because the free tier is not a trial: it does not expire.
What CamScribe Pro changes is the export. Without Pro, an exported video carries a small CamScribe mark drawn into the picture and is produced at up to 1920 by 1080 pixels on its long edge. With Pro, an export carries no mark and is produced at the size you asked for. Nothing else differs, no recording you have already made is affected, and buying Pro later exports the same untouched project cleanly. The pricing page sets this out in full.
Pro is sold in three forms, through Apple's in-app purchase:
- Pro Monthly: an auto-renewable subscription with a length of 1 month, at $2.99 per month.
- Pro Yearly: an auto-renewable subscription with a length of 1 year, at $24.99 per year.
- Pro, one-off: a single purchase of $99.99. It is not a subscription. It never renews, it is never billed again, and it does not expire.
Prices are the United States storefront and are shown before you confirm anything. Apple sets the price in every other storefront from the same tier and collects any sales tax or VAT, so the amount you are actually charged is the amount Apple shows you at the moment of purchase.
Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Each subscription renews automatically, for the same length and at the same price, unless you turn off automatic renewal before the current period ends. Apple will tell you in advance if a renewal price ever changes, and a subscription does not renew at a new price without the consent Apple asks you for.
Cancelling. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings, at your App Store subscriptions, or in the App Store application on your Mac. That is the only place a subscription can be cancelled: we cannot cancel one for you, and any button of ours claiming to would be lying. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have already paid for runs to its end, and Pro keeps working until it does. Both subscriptions are in one subscription group, so you can move between monthly and yearly without paying twice.
Refunds. Apple is the seller of record, so refunds are Apple's to give. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to support@olib.ai if something went wrong and we will help, but we cannot process the refund itself.
Restoring a purchase. Anything bought with your Apple Account can be restored on any Mac you use it on, with the Restore Purchases button in Settings. Restoring and buying both need a connection to the App Store, and this is the only part of CamScribe that needs the network at all. See the privacy policy for exactly what that request carries.
These terms of use and our privacy policy are also reachable from inside the application, on the Purchases tab in Settings, alongside the price of each plan and what its renewal means.
4. Pre-release software
CamScribe is currently in development and any build you receive is pre-release software. It has not been validated across a range of Mac hardware, over long recordings, or against real-world capture conditions, and its own documentation is specific about which of its behaviours have been demonstrated only against synthetic test material.
Treat it accordingly: do not use a pre-release build as the only record of something you cannot record again. Keep your own copies of anything that matters.
5. Your recordings are yours
Everything you record, edit and export with CamScribe belongs to you. Olib AI claims no ownership of it, no licence over it and no right to use it. We do not receive it, and we have no way to: there is no server of ours behind the application, and nothing it records, edits, transcribes, searches or exports is ever transmitted anywhere. The one request the application does make is Apple's StoreKit contacting the App Store to sell you Pro or restore a purchase, which carries your Apple Account and the transaction and nothing about your recordings. See the privacy policy for the detail.
You are responsible for your recordings, including for keeping backups of them and for storing them appropriately if they contain confidential material.
6. Lawful use, and the responsibility that comes with a recorder
CamScribe records screens, cameras, microphones and system audio. In many places recording a person, a call or a meeting without the consent of those involved is unlawful, and the rules differ by country and by state. Establishing that you have the right to make a recording is entirely your responsibility.
You agree not to use CamScribe:
- to record anyone without whatever consent the law where you are requires;
- to capture material you are not entitled to capture, including another party's confidential information or content you are contractually barred from recording;
- to infringe anyone's copyright, privacy, publicity or other rights, or to harass, stalk or defraud anyone;
- in any way that breaks the law that applies to you.
7. Automation and agents
CamScribe can expose itself to an agent through its MCP server. That server is off unless you turn it on, its scopes are granted individually by you, and both of its transports are bound to the loopback interface of your own Mac.
If you enable it, you are responsible for what the agent you connect does with it, including any recording it starts, any edit it applies and any file it exports. An agent acting under scopes you granted is acting as you. Grant the narrowest scopes that do what you need.
8. Third party components
CamScribe uses components supplied by Apple as part of macOS, including its capture, speech recognition and machine learning frameworks, and it bundles a commercially licensed icon set. Those components remain subject to their own licences. Olib AI makes no representation on behalf of their authors.
9. Warranty disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, CamScribe is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the application will be uninterrupted, error free, compatible with any particular Mac or macOS version, or that a recording will complete, be recoverable or be of any particular quality. Recording depends on hardware, on drivers and on permissions that the operating system, not this application, controls.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Olib AI will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of recordings, data, profit, revenue, goodwill or opportunity, arising from or connected to your use of or inability to use CamScribe, even if we have been advised that such damages are possible.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising from or connected to CamScribe is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Olib AI harmless from any claim, loss or expense arising from your use of CamScribe in breach of these terms, and in particular from any claim that a recording you made infringed someone's rights or was made without a consent the law required.
12. Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the application. Your recordings are files on your own disk and are unaffected by the licence ending: they remain yours, and nothing in the application deletes them.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page records when they last changed. Continued use of the application after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, uninstall it.
